Nike is Causing Some Major Golf Sponsor Shakeups

Ok, we all know that Tiger and Nike parted ways after a 27-year partnership.

What we didn’t expect was the entire golf apparel world to go topsy-turvy, and yet, here we are.

What do we mean? Over the past two weeks, we’ve had some wild sponsor-level news come out for various golfers.

  • Rickie Fowler is no longer sponsored by Farmer’s Insurance.
  • Malbon Golf and DEWALT are getting into the pro sponsor game.
  • And now, no joke, Lululemon has sponsored a professional male golfer.

To be exact, both Jason Day (PGA) and Charlie Hull (LPGA) now have Malbon as a sponsor. A DEWALT logo was also spotted on Day’s hat at The Sentry Tournament. (We won’t get into how his pants looked like something people wear at Walmart at 3 a.m..)

Rickie was transparent about Farmer’s not renewing. Now, today, January 11th, 2024 β€” news broke that Farmer’s Insurance will not sponsor the Torrey Pines event after their contract ends (in 2026). They’ve sponsored it since 2010.

Now, Min Woo Lee has signed with Lululemon?!?!

One thing we hope to see are the brands of up-and-coming golf YouTube influencers make it to the tour.

Imagine a PGA, LPGA, or LIV golfer in a “Have a Day” hat, or your favorite pro in some Good Good merchandise.

Wouldn’t that be awesome?
